Pablo López


He began his musical studies in Santander, where he won the Intermediate Piano Degree with honors. In 1990 he entered the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música in Madrid, where he studied with professor Joaquín Soriano (piano) and professor Fernando Garcia Escobar (chamber music). In this center he obtained the certificates of Profesor Superior de Piano and Profesor Superior de Música de Cámara, both with the highest qualifications.

After receiving scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he made postgraduate studies at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique in Brussels with the teachers Eugène Moguilevsky, Olga Roumchevitch and André Siwy. He obtained there the Premier Prix of Chamber Music and the Higher Diploma in Piano with Distinction.

He has taken part in masterclasses with prestigious pianists, like Marta Gulyas, Josep Colom, Serghei Yerokhin, Oleg Marshev, Fanny Waterman, Guillermo Gonzalez and Alicia de Larrocha. In 1994 he received the Silver Medal of Juventudes Musicales de Santander. He has performed as soloist in piano recitals, chamber music and concerto with orchestra in many concerts in Cantabria, Castilla y León, Galicia, Valencia, Andalusia, Belgium and France. Some of these performances have been recorded and broadcast by Radio Nacional de España.

Interested in contemporary music, he has premiered works of current composers, some of them dedicated to him, and has participated in activities such as Music Creation Cycle in Cantabria and the Cycle of Music of the Twentieth Century organized by the Universidad Pontificia and the Conservatorio Profesional de Música of Salamanca. He is also member of SMASH Ensemble, dedicated to the introduction of contemporary music in Spain and Europe.

As a teacher, he has worked in the Conservatorio “Ataúlfo Argenta” of Santander and the Conservatorio “Cristóbal Halffter” de Ponferrada (León). He currently teaches at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música of Salamanca.
