Manuel Gran


Born in Torrent (Valencia) and started learning the horn in the band of his hometown with Arturo Parra Martinez, and later went to study at the Conservatory of Music of Valencia.

Years later he studied with Francisco Burguera (ONE soloist and professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid). In 1980 he obtained the Sergeant-musician post, being destined to Canary Islands, Malaga and later at the Band of the Royal Household of HM the King (Madrid).

In 1989 obtains the teaching post at the Conservatory of Salamanca, where his teaching continues. He has been selected to attend the summer courses organized by the JONDE and has collaborated on several occasions with the National Orchestra of Spain and Symphony Orchestra of Castile and Leon. Today is a member of the Symphony Orchestra of Burgos. He has attended advanced courses at the University of Alcala de Henares with Vicente Zarzo (natural horn) and master classes with Javier Bonet, Hermman Baumann and Dale Clevenger.

He has been invited to participate in music many cycles such as “Jóvenes en Concierto” organized by the Castile and Leon government both as Horn and Piano duo with Antonio Notorio and later with Ester Diego, or as a member of the brass quintet “Conservatory of Salamanca”, acting in Castile and Leon.

He is a founding teaching member of the summer course "Intensive sessions for young horn players" held every year in the town of Alba de Tormes (Salamanca). He makes part of SMASH ensemble.
